2010 - SCAC Basketball Media Days - Trinity


The Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference office will conduct its first annual basketball "media days" event beginning Monday, November 15.

Day four features a sit down with both head coaches Amie Bradley and Pat Cunningham along with senior forward Luke Caldarera and senior guard Danielle Hubenak of Trinity.

Danielle Hubenak returns for her senior year to run the point guard position for the Tigers after pacing them a season ago with 12.4 points, 4.5 rebounds and 4.3 assists per games as a junior. The four year starter broke an 11 year old record for most assists in a career last year and stands with 334 just 37 assists away from cracking into the top 10 all-time in SCAC history. Amie Bradley returns to guide this team after finishing last year with a record of 17-9, 11-5 in SCAC play.

Luke Caldarera enters his senior year as the conference's active leading scorer with 1,015 points through his junior year. Last year Caldarera averaged 15 points and 7.9 rebounds as the Tigers posted a 14-13 record 9-7 in league play. Pat Cunningham enters his 12th season at the helm of the Tigers basketball program. Through his first 11 seasons coach Cunningham has amassed a record of 217-86 (.716) both the most wins and highest winning percentage in Trinity history.

2010 - SCAC Basketball Media Days - Southwestern


The Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference office will conduct its first annual basketball "media days" event beginning Monday, November 15.

Day four features a sit down with both head coaches Kerri Brinkoeter and Bill Raleigh along with senior forward Shae Seagraves and senior guard Nick Caputo of Southwestern.

Kerri Brinkoeter returns to led the Pirates after a stint as the head coach from 2002-2005. The Pirates return three of their top four scorers from a season ago that saw Southwestern post a 10-16 record 6-10 in conference play. Shae Seagraves returns for her senior season after leading the Pirates as a junior averaging 15.5 points and 5.6 rebounds a contest.

On the men's side Southwestern welcomes 11 newcomers to a team that last year posted an overall record of 16-10, 9-7 in conference play. The Pirates will be led by a strong senior class in Jon Brown, Nick Caputo and Robbie Hanley. Bill Raleigh enters his 12th season as the head coach of the Pirates who averaged 7.2 three point field goals made last year. Caputo, who shot 37% from long range, averaged 12 points a game as a junior.

2010 - SCAC Basketball Media Days - Sewanee


The Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference office will conduct its first annual basketball "media days" event beginning Monday, November 15.

Day four features a sit down with both head coaches Dickie McCarthy and Bubba Smith along with junior guard Danni Kabbes and senior guard Tony Marelle of Sewanee.

Dickie McCarthy enters his eight season at the helm of the Sewanee Tigers but his second running the fast paced Grinnell system. Last season the Tigers set an SCAC record with 247 made three point field goals. The full court up tempo style also led to Sewanee leading the league in turnover margin at +8 a contest. Danni Kabbes returns for her junior year after averaging 10.2 points and 6.5 rebounds as a sophomore.

Bubba Smith returns to the mountain for his third season as the head coach of the Tigers. Sewanee posted a 4-21 record 1-15 in SCAC play last year as the Tigers led the conference in offensive rebounds at 12.9 per game. Tony Marelle returns for his senior season as one of just three upperclassman on a team that features 11 freshman and sophomore. Marelle combined for 5.3 points, 2.4 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game.

2010 - SCAC Basketball Media Days - Rhodes


The Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference office will conduct its first annual basketball "media days" event beginning Monday, November 15.

Day three features a sit down with both head coaches Matt Dean and Mike DeGeorge along with junior guard Sharwil Bell and senior forward Josh Arant of Rhodes College.

Head Coach Matt Dean enters his ninth season at the helm of the Lynx after posting a 14-13 record a year ago including a 6-10 conference record. SCAC Newcomer of the Year Sharwil Bell returns to pace Rhodes after a sophomore campaign accounting for 13.9 points, 7.0 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game.

Mike DeGeorge takes over at the helm of the Lynx basketball program after legendary coach and the SCAC all-time winningest coach Herb Hilgeman (473 victories) retired at the end of last season. Rhodes who finished fourth in rebounding margin last year finished the season with a 10-16 record 4-12 in SCAC play. Josh Arant returns as the lone senior after posting 1.7 points and 2.2 rebounds a game.

2010 - SCAC Basketball Media Days - Oglethorpe


The Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference office will conduct its first annual basketball "media days" event beginning Monday, November 15.

Day three features a sit down with both head coaches Ron Sattele and Phil Ponder along with senior guard Chelsea MacDonald and senior guard Joe Kennedy of Oglethorpe University.

The Lady Petrels storm into this season after posting an 11-16 record a season ago, 4-10 in SCAC play. Head coach Ron Sattele has now lead Oglethorpe to five straight season with 10 or more wins for the first time in school history. Last year the Petrels led the SCAC in blocks with 5.8 per contest. Senior Chelsea MacDonald returns as one of two seniors on the squad after finishing last year averaging 6.0 points and 2.3 rebounds per game.

Phil Ponder enters his eight season as the head coach of the Petrels coming off a 15-11 campaign last year, 9-7 in conference play. Joe Kennedy (865 pts) returns as one of three seniors on this OU team that has a chance to clip the 1,000 career point mark along with Todd Ward (1,009 pts) and Alex Richey (804 pts). As a junior Kennedy averaged 10 points and 3.4 rebounds a game.

2010 - SCAC Basketball Media Days - Millsaps


The Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference office will conduct its first annual basketball "media days" event beginning Monday, November 15.

Day three features a sit down with both head coaches Chuck Winkelman and Tim Wise along with sophomore guard Kristin Salmon and junior guard Brian Merkel of Millsaps College.

Chuck Winkelman takes over as the head coach for the Lady Majors who finished last year with a record of 1-24. Winkelman is no stranger to the SCAC having coached at Hendrix from 1995-2004. Kristin Salmon returns to help lead this team after a freshman season in which she averaged 7.1 points, 3.7 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game.

Tim Wise enters his eighth season as the head coach of the Majors just five wins shy of his 100th victory at Millsaps. The Majors closed out the season strong winning five of their final eight games posting a 12-13 record 8-8 in SCAC play. Junior guard Brian Merkel will handle the point guard duties after averaging 4.1 points, 2.9 rebounds and 2.7 assists per contest.

2010 - SCAC Basketball Media Days - DePauw


The Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference office will conduct its first annual basketball "media days" event beginning Monday, November 15.

Day two features a sit down with both head coaches Kris Huffman and Bill Fenlon along with senior guard Lauren Goff and junior guard Sean Haseley of DePauw University.

Head Coach Kris Huffman returns for her 18th season at the helm of the DU Tigers coming off a 26-4 season which DePauw won its ninth SCAC Title and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. Huffman has guided DePauw to nine straight 20 plus win seasons and is just 20 wins shy of her 400th career win. Lauren Goff returns for her senior year as a threat from the outside connecting on 35% from long range as a junior averaging 6.5 points and 1.3 rebounds a game.

On the men's side DePauw is coming off a 2009-10 season finishing 20-8 on the year 11-5 in conference play making a run to the SCAC title game before falling to eventual champion Centre. Fenlon notched his 400th career victory last season as a head coach and currently is the winningest active coach in the SCAC with 415 victories. Sean Haseley returns for his junior campaign after averaging 11.1 points and 3.5 rebounds per contest a season ago.

2010 - SCAC Basketball Media Days - Hendrix


The Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference office will conduct its first annual basketball "media days" event beginning Monday, November 15.

Day two features a sit down with both head coaches at Hendrix Emily Cummins and Thad McCracken along with senior forward Christina Byler and senior guard Ryan Rizos.

After a season as the head coach of the Lady Warriors, McCracken returns to the men's team in his first year at the helm. McCracken served as the Warriors top assistant under former head coach Dan Priest for four years (2005-09). Rizos returns for his senior year hopeful to return this team back to the SCAC Tournament after posting a 7-16 a year ago 4-12 in conference play. As a junior Rizos averaged 8.7 points and 5.1 rebounds per contest.

The Lady Warriors return to the hardwood after one of the most exciting seasons in Hendrix history with its first SCAC Western Division title after finishing 20-5 overall and 13-3 in SCAC play. Emily Cummins steps in as the new head coach in Conway after spending time at LaGrange College becoming the third head coach in as many years for the Warriors. Senior forward Christina Byler returns poised and hungry averaging 17.3 points and 9.1 rebounds per game in route to being named 1st team all-conference as a junior.

2010 - SCAC Basketball Media Days - Colorado College


The Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference office will conduct its first annual basketball "media days" event beginning Monday, November 15.

Day two features a sit down with both head coaches Liz Doran and Andy Partee along with junior forward Becky Luetjen and senior guard Nick Rose of Colorado College.

Colorado College is coming of a 12-13 season 6-10 in conference play after leading the SCAC in scoring offense with 74.6 points per contest. Doran enters her third year at the helm of the CC Tigers who are looking to return to the SCAC Tournament after finishing fifth in the Western Division in 2009-10. Luetjen returns for her junior campaign after averaging 16.4 points and 8.8 rebounds a year ago.

On the men's side CC enters 2010-11 coming off their best season since joining the SCAC posting a 12-13 record 7-9 in conference action. Coach Partee has seen his team improve each year and has his troops poised to make a run at their first appearance in the SCAC Tournament. Senior Nick Rose the conference's leading scorer from last year averaging 21.9 points per contest to go along with 5.8 rebounds.

2010 - SCAC Basketball Media Days - Centre


The Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference office will conduct its first annual basketball "media days" event beginning Monday, November 15.

Day one features a sit down with both head coaches at Centre Wendie Austin-Robinson and Greg Mason along with senior guard Amanda Stovall and senior center Alex Lloyd.

Centre, 18-9 (11-5) last year, embarks on the 2010-11 season as the two time defending SCAC champions. The Colonels led the SCAC a year ago in scoring defense holding opponents to just 56.7 points per game. Now in his 12th season at the helm Greg Mason is looking to lead his team to a third straight SCAC title for just the second time in league history (Trinity 2002-03 - 2004-05). SCAC Defensive Player-of-the-Year Alex Lloyd returns for the Colonels after averaging 7.3 points and 9.7 rebounds during his junior year.

Following another outstanding season the Centre women’s basketball team will look to continue its recent success in the 2010-2011 season. The Colonels posted their first consecutive winning seasons since 1999-2000 and 2000-2001, and also recorded their most wins in a season since the 2000-2001, finishing with a 19-8 overall and record and 12-4 mark in the SCAC. Senior Amanda Stovall who averaged 7.8 points and 3.3 rebounds her junior year returns to help lead this Colonels squad under head coach Wendie Austin-Robinson.

2010 SCAC Basketball Media Days - Birmingham-Southern


The Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference office will conduct its first annual basketball "media days" event beginning Monday, November 15.

Day one features a sit down with both head coaches at Birmingham-Southern Brad Hodge and Mitch Cole along with senior guard Katelyn Wilson and senior guard Patrick Price.

The Panthers enter the 2010-11 season after finishing atop the Eastern Division last year with a 20-5 record, 11-5 in conference action. It was the best finish since Birmingham-Southern joined the SCAC as the Panthers went a perfect 14-0 at home averaging a league best 77 points per game. Patrick Price returns to lead this Mitch Cole led team after averaging five points and 1.6 rebounds last season.

The Lady Panthers enter to 2010-11 campaign after coming off an 13-12 year in 2009-10, 7-9 in SCAC action. BSC lead by head coach Brad Hodge will look to improve this year after posting the second highest average points per game total at 72 a night. Senior Katelyn Wilson returns to pace the Panthers who in her junior year averaged 10.3 points and 3.5 rebounds a contest.

2010 SCAC Basketball Media Days - Austin College


The Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference office will conduct its first annual basketball "media days" event beginning Monday, November 15.

Day one features a sit down with both head coaches at Austin College Michelle Filander and Rodney Wecker along with senior forward Spenser Cruikshank and junior forward Josh Saunders.

The Roos enter the 2010-11 season under head coach Rodney Wecker coming of a banner season just a year ago. Austin College behind SCAC Player-of-the-Year Kola Alade posted a 20-7 record 12-4 in conference play and the top seed in the Western Division. Josh Saunders returns to lead a team with no seniors after posting 6.3 points and 3.6 rebounds in 16.9 minutes per contest.

The Lady Roos return to the hardwood under new head coach Michelle Filander who arrives in Sherman from Washington and Jefferson College. Behind Player-of-the-Year Katy Williams Austin College posted its best record since joining the SCAC at 18-8 (12-4). Senior Spenser Cruikshank returns to lead the Roos after a junior campaign which she averaged 5.1 points and 5.8 rebounds in 24.2 minutes a ballgame.
